I can’t recommend Lisa enough. She illustrated my first children’s book, which centered around a subject that can be incredibly difficult to talk about, and from the very beginning, she approached the project with so much thoughtfulness, care, and intention. Lisa took the time to truly understand the heart behind the book and was incredibly sensitive to the subject matter. She brought the illustrations to life in a way that felt both meaningful and appropriate, while honoring the message I wanted to share. What stood out to me most was that her support didn’t stop once the illustrations were finished. She was thoughtful and encouraging before, during, and after the entire process. I always felt like I was working with someone who genuinely cared about the project and its impact, not just someone completing a job. Creating my first children’s book felt like a huge and vulnerable step, and I’m so grateful Lisa was part of that journey. She is incredibly talented, compassionate, intentional, and truly wonderful to work with. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for an illustrator who brings both creativity and genuine heart to their work.
Lisa helped me with set design for the children's Christmas production designing an amazing western set (an original) in 2020, the city of Bethlehem in 2021, and a wintery European inspired from A Christmas Carol in 2022. She also designed for Vacation Bible School with a desert scape and archeological dig site in 2021, and a brilliant medieval theme for 2023. My words don't do justice to the quality of her work... Some of these back drops measured 50' across and nearly 30' tall with tremendous detail down to the smallest items bring the sets to life! Some of the work she did was original design, and some were inspired, while others enlarged, but each one simply a work of art. Lisa's ability to tell a story with pictures is truly a gift from God. Sometimes, artists can be know for being hard to work with... Even scattered and unorganized, but not Lisa. She is highly professional and has a laser focus on her projects! Even with that focus she is incredibly easy going and a pleasure to work with. If you want to bring your projects to life, I would highly recommend Lisa for all your design needs!
Lisa has designed the physical environment for three of our Vacation Bible School productions: Submerged in 2024, Faith Takes Flight in 2025, and Illuminate in 2026. All three were fully custom builds rather than pre-packaged curriculum kits, so every set piece, entrance, and prop had to be designed from nothing. She designed the main stage, delivering drawings and visuals we could build directly from. She designed the entrance, which for us is where a child stops standing in a church parking lot and steps into a story. In 2024 that was a submarine tunnel, in 2025 an airport security scanner, in 2026 a mossy forest tunnel. She also designed our outdoor patio each year, including themed games and decorations, and the centerpiece structure at the middle of it: a 25-foot air traffic control tower in 2025, a two-story fort in 2026. I'd bring her a concept and a vision, and she'd come back with sketches better than what I had described. Lisa designs with the build in mind, so her drawings function as instructions as much as artwork. Her range is extraordinary. Those three themes share nothing visually. An underwater world, an aviation world, and a dark forest are completely different design problems, and she solved all three with the same confidence. She thinks in environments, not props. She isn't decorating a room, she's designing the sequence a kid moves through, from the entrance to the patio to the stage. The sets were never just decoration for us. Kids remember what they experienced far longer than what they were told, so the environment does real work alongside the teaching. That was the goal, and Lisa is a large part of why it worked. I'd recommend her without hesitation and I'd work with her again on anything. Nicolai Ahuja Calvary Prescott Kids Pastor
