The Conductor

As the world goes about its day, and as people take up their commute for the evening, we do not know how they are, who they are or where they are going. Lost amongst the faces, a moment of reflection and deeper passion sits a man amongst the numbers. His attire matching those of the peers of his environment, but he is to don a far more regal look as he prepares his actions to lead a symphony from the stage. Each woodwind and stringed instrument waiting on his every gesture. He may be subtle here, out of respect to his fellow travellers, but make no mistake, the passion that cannot be gesticulated through the limbs can most certainly be seen on the face. He feels the moment to come, and in reverance of the music he gives it its due diligence and attention.

He is The Conductor.

Very Nice! I see him humming to himself and visualizing his next performance

Someone who blends in with every other commuter but carries a whole secret life inside them. The story behind this piece is just as compelling as the piece itself, Nate.

Love this. He's obviously writing something profound. (Those reflections are tough...aren't they).

I think the slight tension in those raised fingers is what's doing it for me. You can practically hear exactly what the music is doing in his earbuds just by looking at how his hand is positioned 😁

Nate, the idea that you can be surrounded by people and still be completely somewhere else, already on that stage. Conductors carry the whole orchestra in their heads before a single note is played.

Reading the description before seeing the painting was an experience in itself. That image of him sitting quietly among commuters, internally rehearsing the music before he takes the stage, got me. Nate, you gave this person such a full life in just a few sentences.

Love the story and the painting! Love the emotion on his face. I almost hear the music through this piece! Great job catching the soul of a random person on the train. Just lovely.

You've painted him at his most alive. Really compelling piece, Nate!
