Rose : Unfixed

Post image 1

Acrylic on Canvas · 36 × 36 Inches · 2026

The rose has never held a single meaning. It has symbolised love, power, secrecy, rebellion — each era reshaping it to reflect its own desires. Identity functions the same way. It shifts across time, culture, and perception. What is assigned to us is never fixed. Interpretation evolves. Use evolves. Value evolves. Yet beneath projection and reinvention, something essential persists. Beyond labels, beyond distortion, the core remains untouched

Strong piece, it makes me think of the dangerous times of the Tudors

Thank you! That's fascinating because the piece is really about how the meaning of a rose is never fixed. The Tudor connection is a great example of how different eras project different meanings onto the same symbol.

The unfixed title against that final line about the core remaining untouched. That structural tension is carrying the whole piece.

Thank you, Daren. That tension was exactly what I was hoping to explore. Glad it came through.

That line about the core remaining untouched. When you're waiting for the right hour of sky, you learn that. What shifts is the light on it, not what it is.
