The Instinct That Makes Me Create

This work is called Whispers 100x100 and it wasn't planned to be what it is.
\nDo you know how I paint? There's not always a plan. In fact, most of the time, there isn't any plan at all.
\nPainting by instinct is simply moving forward without thinking too much. I grab a brush or a spatula, pick a color because I feel like it in that moment — it might be a deep blue or a yellow full of energy — and I begin. It's almost a need to put out there something that even I don't know what it is.
\nSometimes the mind tries to intervene and start saying 'make that bit straighter' or 'that doesn't look right'; usually it just spoils things. The magic of abstract painting is in that moment: closing the brain and letting go. Instinct knows exactly where to press on the paint, where to let the canvas breathe, and even when a random smear ends up becoming the best part of the painting.
\nThere are no rules, no formulas. It's a direct conversation between my mood and the canvas. And when I look at the painting and feel that the story is told... I put away the brushes. It's as simple — and as beautiful — as that.
How nice, I feel the same too!
Thanks, Inês. It's not easy, but when you love, you do it!😘
