That quiet mirror effect in the foreground, the way it echoes the peak without competing with it. I spent years trying to get water that still in Shenandoah, learning the hard way that patience beats rushed setups every time. The composition pulls my eye straight through to Triglav, clean and direct.

The island pulls focus, but the mountain anchors the whole thing. That placement in the upper third, it's not trying to compete, just sitting there like the piece needed it to close the frame. The soft haze between them does the work of connecting without crowding.
It is hard to make that kind of photos in the summer. If there weren't clouds on the sky, I wouldn't even bother with it. Because it was midday and the light was pretty harsh.
