The slow canvas flip adds nothing to the painting

That thing where someone paints the whole piece facing away from the camera and then rotates it for a big reveal at the end? I think it actually undermines the work.

What pulls me into watching someone paint is the process. In watercolor especially, the interesting part is seeing a wet wash settle, watching pigment granulate as it dries, catching that exact moment someone drops color into a still-wet area. The reveal format hides all of that behind a gimmick. You get a few seconds of "ta-da" instead of minutes of real craft. It turns the painting into a prop for the painter's personality.

I get that it builds suspense. I get that suspense drives engagement. But I'd rather watch someone struggle with a bloom that got away from them than sit through thirty seconds of a canvas back. The mess is the good part.

Maybe I'm just impatient, or maybe I think paintings deserve to be watched while they're becoming themselves. Change my mind.

Yes, it's a total waste of time IMO. It adds nothing to the finished product. I like the step by step, even if it's not done correctly.
