"The Bride's Veil Arrives" - A Forgotten Gem from Nine Years Ago

This may be a good problem to have, but I find this ongoing process seems to turn up the occasional forgotten gem more often than expected; the process of deleting photos to make room for more. I went snow camping in Yosemite, January, 2017. It was a long wait at Tunnel View for the clouds to lift, and the sun to appear. There was plenty to photograph as El Capitan, and even Half Dome, began to show. But much closer, at 86mm, Bridalveil Fall captured the gathered crowd's attention most often.

Some may say this should be B&W. I like how the cool of snow and fog plays counterpart to the visual warmth of cliff varnish.

Mitch, finding this Bridalveil moment from 2017 while clearing space is such a gift. That wait at Tunnel View, the crowd watching the fall emerge while El Cap and Half Dome played backup, you captured the exact thing everyone was holding their breath for. The warmth against all that snow and fog just works.

I can picture that whole scene at Tunnel View, everyone waiting for the clouds to break. Nine years later and you found this moment with Bridalveil catching the light just right. The warmth of that cliff varnish against all that snow and fog must have been striking to see in person.

It most certainly was! 😊

I too like the warm tones of the cliffs as contrast to the snow. B&W would loose that. Good choice and really cool photo. Not to mention that “snow camping” sounds rather ominous!

thanks Derek. Yeah it takes the right gear and some getting use to. Below, from that trip.

Exquisite pristine photo. Great title for fresh snow and jagged rock cliff mountain face.

Thank you Virtue. It is a loosely esoteric title. The waterfall is Bridalveil Fall.
