Those kept guide lines ground it. The red could have overwhelmed everything, but the visible scaffolding makes the bull feel like real weight charging at you, not just red paint.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful feedback Shanon!

i find especially the face section very lively and technically sophisticated, exactly where the viewer focuses first and where You show your skill. Letting the surroundings somehow less detailed (or even more blurry) is what it makes it dynamic.

An intensified contrast between light and shadows could make it appear even more dramatic.

I am torn between whether the lines should be present or not. On one hand, they give the impression of being in crosshairs. On the other hand, it feels like it was a guide to begin the image. Maybe Gerardus can tell. us.

Hi Susan, it was indeed the first thing I did to have a guide for the proportions of the image. I am still learning to properly "hold the line" when there is so much motion in an image. I like keeping the lines in, even after I finished, I like that touch of imperfection.

The energy's all there. What's holding the composition together for me is the decision to commit to that red. It's doing the emotional work and the structural work at once.

Thanks for your feedback Daren, once I was done with the basic work, I felt that it needed more raw energy and something to communicate with the eyes. After I added in the red in the same direction as the original charcoal and pencil lines, I felt that colouring the entire image in the somewhat simplistic heaven & earth colours would give a nice balance to the charging bull. Thanks again for your thoughtful words Daren!

Good execution. Love the red. Red is the color of anger. Where's your focal point?

Hey Molly, good to see you here again. Red is indeed the colour of anger in this case. The raging bull is charging towards us and I mainly see the eyes as a focal point. Thank you for your feedback Molly and have a good Saturday!
