Art Critique

12 × 16 in (30 × 40 cm) – Oil on canvas board

This is my first oil painting after a four-year break from the easel.

I'd really appreciate your honest critique and evaluation. Please don't hold back—I'd love to know what works, what doesn't, and where you think I could improve.

I know it's difficult to estimate the value of artwork from a photo, but if you were to put a price on it, what range would you suggest, and why?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts.

The paintings are awesome! The demographics of where you are trying to sell plays a huge part in how much you can get for any type of art. A question for you is are you willing to take less so you can sell more paintings or do you want to hold out to get more, taking the chance that you might not sell any. The more items you sell, the more of your work gets out into the world. I have given away a lot of mine. Picasso was a great businessman and he gave away a lot of his work.

Thank you, Eric. I really appreciate your perspective. I'm still trying to find the right balance between building a collector base and valuing the time and effort that goes into each painting. Your point about getting work out into the world is definitely something I'll keep in mind. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
