How many images did you actually have when you started selling?
I spent a long time convinced I needed this massive portfolio before I could put anything up for sale. I kept shooting weekends in Shenandoah, stacking up folders of Blue Ridge sunrises and coastal stuff from the Eastern Shore, telling myself I wasn't ready yet. Looking back, that was probably just fear dressed up as preparation.
Eventually I threw maybe 15 prints on a site and... crickets for a long time. But at least I was in the game. I've talked to other photographers who started with 5 images and others who waited until they had 200. I honestly still don't know what the right number is, or if there even is one.
For those of you selling online now, how many pieces did you actually have when you first launched? And looking back, would you have started sooner with less?
I had about 10 very different but all oil paintings .I was quite happy to have this many as there was a variety to choose from for the clientele.
