The Civil Conversation
I've been thinking a lot lately about how we talk to one another.
In an age of social media, where opinions are often reduced to headlines, outrage, and algorithms, it feels as though we've lost some of the skills that help us live together.
Listening. Curiosity. Respectful disagreement.
The ability to sit with complexity rather than rush to judgement.
This latest work, The Civil Conversation, explores those ideas through colour, connection, and shared space. The forms remain distinct, each holding its own identity, yet they are linked by fragile lines of communication.
For me, it reflects the challenge of modern society: how do we remain connected when our experiences, beliefs, and perspectives are so different?
A civil conversation doesn't require agreement. It requires a willingness to engage, to listen, and to recognise the humanity in one another, even when we stand on opposite sides of an issue.
Perhaps that's something we need now more than ever.
This abstract piece presents bold blocks of blue, orange, pink, and yellow, intersected by sinuous black lines ending in circular shapes. The textured layering adds depth and interplay between the colors and forms. Its dynamic composition conveys movement and energy, making it an engaging choice to enrich any space.
