Description
What caught my attention here was the symmetry created by the magnificent wrought-iron gates and the historic brick architecture beyond. I waited for the couple to move through the centre of the composition, adding a human element and a sense of scale to the architecture. I particularly like how the open gates act almost like a frame within the photograph, guiding the eye towards the couple and through the arched entrance beyond. Shad Thames remains one of my favourite parts of London to photograph, with its wonderful combination of historic warehouse architecture, brickwork and reminders of the area's industrial past.
