This striking artwork presents a vibrant red flower, its petals unfurling with a graceful elegance against a deep black background. The intricate details and rich colors reveal the beauty of nature, inviting viewers to appreciate the delicate balance of form and color. Each curve and contour embodies a moment of life, encouraging reflection on the wonders of the natural world. While this lily is the national flower of Zimbabwe, I found the best specimen for creating a floral portrait in Kirstenbosch Gardens, Cape Town, South Africa! Using the masking tools in Lightroom, I was able to isolate and highlight the fantastic floral architecture of the bloom against a black background. I photographed this during a trip where I visited several Fellows from our nonprofit FAIMER leadership program; the art supports FAIMER's mission of improving healthcare around the world.
