Description
Winter rains quickly settle and evaporate from a typically dry desert playa. This particular dry lake bed is situated out of view near a hilltop in Joshua Tree National Park. The "super bloom" of 2019 provided colorful greenery and apricot mallow which contrasted well with the rough 'skin' of the cracked mud, rendered monochrome to create a 'contrast in time'.
