In Quiet Moment, I wanted to share my personal interpretation of Mayon Volcano, one of the most iconic and beautiful landmarks in the Philippines. Known for its near perfect cone shape, Mayon Volcano carries both beauty and power within its history. Although it is one of the most active volcanoes in the country, with eruptions that have shaped the landscape and the lives of many people throughout generations, I wanted to paint a different side of it, a moment of stillness, peace, and emotional calmness beneath the night sky. This painting was inspired not only by the beauty of Mayon Volcano itself, but also by the emotional presence it carries for me as someone from the Philippines. Through this artwork, I wanted to create a feeling of calm, wonder, and connection between nature and the universe. The glowing moon, flowing night sky, peaceful village, and river below represent the balance between movement and stillness, dreams and reality, human life and something greater beyond us. The dotted flowing patterns travelling across the sky symbolize energy, journeys, thoughts, and unseen connections that guide us through life. For me, they represent the emotional path we all experience, always moving, changing, and flowing like the wind through the night. Beneath this cosmic atmosphere stands the volcano itself, strong, grounded, resilient, and silent, watching peacefully over the landscape below. The moon is one of the most important elements in my paintings. I love painting the moon with texture and strong presence because, for me, it symbolizes rest, calmness, reflection, and the peacefulness of nighttime. Night has always felt comforting to me because it is a moment when the world becomes quieter and people finally slow down and rest.
I am a self-taught artist who paints from a place of calm and curiosity. I like to transmit the quiet rhythm of nature with beautiful colours.
