Description
As I was driving down Turnagain Arm Road heading towards Seward from Anchorage, I stopped at every scenic spot I could. This place I actually drove past and turned around and came back to. There were a few little ponds with grass around them and in one of the ponds were a few trumpeter swans and there were more in the grassy area. I walked around to the side of the pond through some tall grass and found a place where I had a front row seat. I watched these swans for about 30 minutes and they really put on a show. I assume there were some mating rituals going on. This swan spent about 15 minutes "bathing" and it was almost dance like with water flying everywhere, then he went up on the shore to the other swans and was promptly chased back into the water.
