Creative Contemplation
I always start pieces like “Creative Contemplation” with a very simple line drawing. No Patterns, no color, just the gesture of a woman in profile.
Then I start layering: blocks of color first, then smaller shapes, and finally the tiny marks that feel most like hand-stitching. Acrylic paints let me change my mind constantly, which I love. If a color doesn’t feel right, I just paint over it and often let a little bit of the underlayer peek through.
That’s why the surface feels so alive to me- it’s because it’s so full of ideas!
