2025 | Mixed media and acrylic on textured canvas Where Light Rests is a contemporary interpretation of a coastal landscape, inspired by the atmosphere of a quiet beach at sunset. The work captures the transition between daylight and evening, where warm golden light spreads across the water, surrounding landscape, and distant horizon. The flowers in the foreground introduce a sense of delicacy and life, contrasting with the deeper greens, earthy tones, and glowing yellows of the landscape. The winding path toward the water creates a feeling of movement and invites the viewer into the scene. A defining element of my process is the use of toilet paper as a textural medium. I layer and shape the toilet paper directly onto the canvas to create raised, irregular surfaces before building the painting with acrylic and mixed media. By transforming an everyday material into a sculptural foundation, I create a surface that interacts naturally with light and gives the landscape a physical, tactile quality. The geometric fragmentation is part of my visual language. I use angular planes to reinterpret the beach landscape as a collection of remembered impressions—pieces of light, color, nature, and emotion rather than a literal depiction of a specific place. For me, Where Light Rests is about the feeling of being near the sea at the end of the day: quiet, warm, reflective, and timeless. It invites the viewer to step into the landscape and experience the sense of peace and possibility found at the meeting point between land, water, and light.
