Description
My newest piece, Behold, measures just 4 by 6 inches but captures a vast cosmic moment. Using oils, I focused on the textured surfaces of two celestial bodies—a large cratered planet in browns, greys, and whites dominates the upper right, while a smaller blue and white moon rests below. The dark space around them creates sharp contrasts, drawing attention to the rugged details and three-dimensional shapes. The inspiration came from a photograph taken by Artemis astronauts on their journey around the moon, a perspective that brought this scene to life with fresh immediacy. Light and shadow shape the composition, inviting a quiet yet expansive reflection on the textures and vastness beyond.
