A mixed media painting featuring a common Southern California weed, short mustard pod. The plant is depicted tenaciously growing in the cracks of cement slabs. The imagery is high contrast with the plant casting its shadow on the cement below and was created with layers of hand printed papers, stems and individual flowers blossoms cut out of painted paper and then hand embellished with additional paint to bring out a hyperrealistic image of the plant. The title suggests that we can learn wisdom from the plant- be ready to grow anywhere, be resourceful and don't worry what others think of you.
