Description
Seagulls . . . love ‘em or hate ‘em, you can’t avoid them. Especially here on the Oregon coast.
This photograph of a herring gull—one of Oregon’s most prolific gulls—was taken during the annual herring spawn in Newport, Oregon. Every year in late February or early March, millions of fish flock to the bay to lay their eggs, and the local wildlife shows up for the feast.
After a hearty meal, this young gull took a tour past the iconic Yaquina Bay Bridge. The ever-present fog and mist softened the scene, giving the bridge and sky a gentle, almost dreamy focus.
Happy fishing, young gull.
