Description
The Paradox of the Sleeping Fox
(2025) Acrylic on paper
The fox, sleeping in the trap, exists in a state where it is simultaneously caught and free. This is a metaphor for a conscious choice of freezing as a survival strategy: as long as one doesn't resist, one avoids even greater pain, but inwardly, an active, vibrant life continues, escaping into one's fantasies. Mushrooms sprout from the fox, and a chaos of color swirls around her, symbolizing growth and inner transformation that continues while the external struggle is paused. The shadow from the trap reminds us that the dark side of past traumas is always present, and it should not be feared or fought, but rather accepted and integrated into one's life.
