Description
Ecosystem 2006 painting ETIOS (Rezis) mixed media (acrylic , oil colours) on canvas, 60cm * 100cm
ETIOS is known as a highly creative and multi-experienced British artist. His work spans various mediums including painting, photography, film, video, and environmental installations. He is a pioneer in art environmental interests and environmental creations. He was one of the first artists selected for a British national competition at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in 1988 for an ecological installation using reusable materials and compost. The style of the artwork appears to be a blend of Abstract Expressionism and possibly Neo-Expressionism, characterized by: Vigorous, painterly brushwork and a dynamic composition. Bold, bright, and clashing colors (vibrant reds, yellows, pinks, blues, and greens) contrasted with a relatively neutral, active white background. Abstracted or semi-abstracted figures and shapes that are highly distorted and expressive. The forms suggest organic shapes, perhaps figures, plants, or elements of a landscape, which ties into the "Eco system"
