Description
This handmade dark grey fresh water pearl and silver necklace is adorned with a faceted red ruby and an antique white bronze plaque ('Tsakli') of Chenrezig, the Boddhisattva of Compassion. The plaque comes from the Nepal/Tibetan region where they have been making these devotional and fortune-bringing amulets since the 10th Century. The amulet is over 200 years old and depicts the Boddhisattva Chenrezig. The ushishna (cranial bump) ad serene facial expression plus the surrounding swirling cloud and flower motifs are typical for artifacts created in the Kathmandu Valley. The modern black pearls make the piece festive and contemporary, while the faceted ruby creates a focal point for the beautiful and grounding devotional plaque.
