Measured Gaze

Description

This watercolor portrait depicts a young man turned slightly to the side, his thoughtful gaze set against a softly shifting gray background. Warm tones define his face, while layered, loose brushwork gives his clothing and surroundings a sense of movement. Its quiet, reflective mood makes it a considered addition to a living room, study, or gallery wall.

Acrylic painter in Santa Fe. Portraits and figures, often of people I know, built up in thin layers. Came from sign painting which left me with good edges and bad instincts about blending. Still working out how much to leave unresolved in a face.
