A charcoal portrait sketch presents a figure in profile, formed from deep shadows and softly blended highlights. Loose, expressive marks give the study a sense of movement while keeping the focus on the face. Shown on an artist’s easel, it brings a thoughtful studio character to a wall or creative space.
Artiste
Acrylic painter in Santa Fe. Portraits and figures, often of people I know, built up in thin layers. Came from sign painting which left me with good edges and bad instincts about blending. Still working out how much to leave unresolved in a face.
