Oh no, the crash! That is terrifying! I am just getting started in this and have started to buy the equipment needed for attending fairs. Thanks for the forewarning. I didn’t see this coming.

Thanks Indra. That's the booth that got destroyed. I couldn't afford to replace the Trimline as you see it. I had to settle for an EZ-Up pop-up, which is not as nice, but affordable given my circumstances.

Oh man! Since your caption was in a comment, I entirely missed the story here. I am so sorry to learn this. While it is true you lost materials, art, a tent, and all, you are safe and have the spirit to create even more. Maybe this will be a turning point in your style, or maybe it will be just a new beginning. Either way, I am here for it!

This was my 2025 booth to start. Montauk Art Assn Art Fair (May). Only to have a drunk driver come through and destroy my tent (and 4 other artists') the 2nd night of a 3-day show. Brand new Flourish 10x10, brand new everything. To say I was traumatized would be an understatement.
So my first advice to anyone doing art fairs -- GET EVENT INSURANCE. Please. Montauk is a sleepy town. I didn't buy it because I figured what the heck could happen? I had 80 lbs on each leg (it gets crazy windy there), I made sure I couldn't harm anyone else. I never thought about someone harming me.
BUY EVENT INSURANCE. Seriously. Look at your Calendar and buy enough insurance to cover you for the entire year if you do a lot of shows, or buy it for each show, but BUY IT. I lost $20K between tent, equipment, originals and prints destroyed. 6 months of creative work I will never get back.

But another spring rolls around and you are back at it! So impressive. Good luck this season Mary

You're so kind to say so Derek. I just refuse to be stopped. I'm a tad stubborn that way. LOL - I'm looking forward to this year. My calendar's set and I'm back at it again! Good luck to you too this season. You've really been hitting it out of the ball park my friend with all your business installations. Good on you!

That’s my focus for 2026. Couple of great installs in the works if I can get them to cross the finish line. Fingers crossed

Nice setup. What are you using for a hanging system. My wife and I have four art fairs lined up so far 2026. We ;earned a lot in 2025 and spent the winter preparing for the 2026 season.

That's the tent that got destroyed. :-( It was a Flourish Displays 10x10 Trimline tent. The "hanging system" is essentially a combination of their upper and lower StaBars, with a French wall, and their mesh panels. I use a variety of S-hooks and drapery pins to hang my work on the mesh panels. The round logo sign I attached to the French wall using bungee cords. The kettle bells were attached using self-winding ratchet straps that I wove up and around the steel frame at the top.
Since all of the tent, panels, desk were destroyed, and I couldn't afford to replace all of it, I am now using an EZ-up 10x10 pop-up, but with the Flourish StaBars and mesh panel. The ProPanel desk was also destroyed, and I haven't replaced it.
The ProPanel desk is extremely heavy, and while popular, I found it annoying because you can't easily move it without it falling apart, because it's so heavy. Essentially it's a trifold set of panels, with 3 plywood shelves attached to each other so that one fits on the top of the trifold, and the remaining two shelves hang from the top shelf with heavy duty strips that hold them all together.
