Orange Chiclets" marks a vibrant new chapter in my creative journey, blending the familiar with the boldly unfamiliar. As the second piece in my "Candy Shop" series, this painting is a celebration of presence, playfulness, and the transformative power of color. In my landscapes, orange quietly energized the scene from beneath, making the painting sing without ever taking center stage. Here, that same subtle spark appears in playful accents—especially the fluorescent toenails—bringing a lively undercurrent to the piece. This work also marks my first exploration of mandala patterns. Their intricate forms, both metallic and multicolored, weave through the composition, symbolizing wholeness and transformation. Introducing mandalas for the first time allowed me to experiment with new layers of meaning and visual rhythm, inviting viewers to linger in the details. The figure reclines in a classic odalisque pose, radiating calm and self-acceptance. My approach to the figure draws on my university days, where I embraced abstraction—blending background and foreground, dissolving boundaries, and letting color and form flow freely together. The detailed, abstracted stockings are a nod to this history, merging pattern and body in a way that feels both nostalgic and fresh. "Orange Chiclets" is a dreamlike meditation on joy, authenticity, and the beauty of being fully present. It’s a piece that invites you to pause, smile, and savor the subtle energy that makes the whole painting sing.
