Event Horizon of Silence presents a fractured roof tile isolated against a field of darkness, positioning material decay as a site of emergence rather than loss. The work was captured in 2019 using natural light and initially preserved as an unprocessed archival image. The final iteration incorporates restrained post-processing to clarify tonal relationships without altering the integrity of the original scene.
The object’s curved surface evokes geological and astronomical associations, while its linear textures document time and exposure. Removed from functional context, the fragment assumes a monolithic presence, suspended between disappearance and form.
Within the Monolith: Emergence of Silence series, the photograph examines how isolation can reveal latent identity. Silence operates as a compositional force, allowing perception—not manipulation—to guide meaning. The work resists immediacy, instead rewarding prolonged engagement and reflective viewing.
