Description
Sorrow Endures, the tenth work in my Faith Series, explores the way grief can transform faith from belief into endurance. The architecture comes from one of the oldest churches in Taos, New Mexico, whose massive adobe walls have stood as both sacred space and refuge through generations of hardship. The eighteenth-century Marian image offers an unusually vulnerable portrayal of Mary, overcome by grief rather than composed in quiet strength, reminding us that even the strongest hearts can break. Together, the images reflect my belief that grief and faith are not opposites; sorrow may remain, but faith can grow alongside our wounds, deepen compassion, and eventually give us the strength to help carry the burdens of others.
