There are many ways to get your children's book out into the world.
My late husband, artist David Delamare, and I worked with traditional publishers, both small and large. (The books you see in the collage were all produced by traditional publishers.)
But for our final children's book project (a heavily illustrated version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland), we decided to crowdfund the book on Kickstarter.
This approach enabled us to create a book with luxury features, including a slipcase, gold debossing, a cloth cover, a ribbon bookmark, and lay-flat binding.
We got so carried away and included so many illustrations that we apparently set the record for the most-illustrated Alice book in history.
