Fabric, textile, and fiber

So, somehow us, fabric artists, are included in the Textile and Fiber category, even though the medium is neither. Anyway, I create my art using just fabric at the moment. I am delving into creating abstract art with fabric which requires a creation process different than creating abstract with oil or acrylic for instance. After five years of creating art in many styles, I reached the conclusion that abstract is where I am the happiest because of the freedom it gives me. I am working on creating an exhibit with the theme "Calm Amidst Chaos". Here is one of the pieces

Greetings

Hello! Somehow I lost the original text I wrote 🤷‍♀️. Anyway I’m Danielle and I’m looking forward to meeting other textile artists. My medium is eco printing aka botanical printing. It’s a fun and fascinating process! I’m pretty new to ASF and to selling art. After recently retiring from careers in law and education I am excited to concentrate on my creative side. Im currently working through Dominating Your Niche and working on instagram posting. As a textile artist what have you found most helpful with ASF?

Hello!

Hi fellow fiber artists! I’ve been a life-long sewist and designer of clothing. I was working fairly successfully sewing clothing made from vintage linens and quilts and initially set up my ASF site with three equal parts: 1. my handmade clothing, 2. children’s illustration and 3. abstract art. But this past Christmas season just about wore me out with clothing commissions. I guess that’s a good thing, but sewing is quite hard on the body. I’ve recently made the decision to relegate that part of my art career back to “hobby” status. A bit sad about it, but the illustration and abstract art - frankly - are less taxing physically and bring in more income. Anyone else have tough decisions like this due to energy levels?
