On my way out of Colorado I decided to make one last stop at the Garden of the Gods to see what I would find. A woman walking her dog tipped me off that there were Big Horn Sheep up the trail a bit....After I started running in the direction she pointed I realised I had no idea how far "a bit" would turn out to be. Nevertheless the sheep remained in place long enough for some exciting photos.

"A bit" turns out to mean different things to different folkd, but glad you followed up. This was a great find for you.

Running up a trail with no idea how far "a bit" actually meant and getting the shot anyway is the best kind of photography story. Garden of the Gods on your way out of Colorado, a stranger with a dog tip, and big horn sheep that stayed put long enough. That's the kind of day that reminds you why you do this.

I've done that exact thing in Shenandoah, chasing a tip from a hiker about where the deer were bedding down. "A bit up the trail" turned into two miles, but when you find them still there it's worth every step.

So true. This kind person notice me with 180-600 lens and was excited to tell me where to go

That generosity from a stranger with a 180-600 is its own kind of luck. Those moments stick with you.

Running in the direction a stranger pointed with no idea how far, just the hope the sheep would wait. That choice paid off.

That moment when a stranger becomes part of the story. Best kind of luck.
