Hello, this heron was like an angel in the evening light. There is a roost at this pond so I like to check it out as the herons come in. Most were up in the trees and, as it was getting dark, they were harder to capture. This heron was out in the open like he was waiting for me! The shot could have been a little crisper but I forgot my tripod and I have a shakey hand. 😊

agree. here is where the background really helps set the mood, along with the intriguing bird preening.

That open-field positioning gave you the shot. The heron knew what he was doing, and you were there for it. Sharpness matters less when the light and subject placement are working this hard for you.
