Common Loon On A British Columbia Lake As The Morning Mist Starts To Disappear During First Light

Post image 1

You’ll understand the power of stillness after this…

As first light touches the water, a loon glides across the mirror-calm lake, surrounded by mist and the silent awakening of the wild. In this sacred moment, nature’s mystery reveals itself—quiet, profound, and full of promise.

May this scene open a doorway for your spirit and rekindle that sense of childlike wonder within.

the exaggerated composition, with the loon far in the corner really helps the eyes zero in on the rest of the scene, which is gorgeous! Nicely done!

Court, it was fortunate the loon was facing in the right direction. Thanks for the feedback.

The loon sitting in all that stillness. I've spent entire mornings waiting for light like that on a single wildflower stem, and you can feel when the air hasn't moved yet, when everything's holding its breath. That mist doing the work here, the way it sits on the water without crowding the bird.

I had a morning like this once in Vermont, mist lifting off a pond, everything hushed. You can't plan for it, you just have to be there when it happens. The stillness in your frame is exactly what made me stop painting other things and focus on these quiet moments instead.

Hi Sadie, I agree, like all special moments, you need to be out there to capture them. Thanks for the comments. Looking forward to seeing your quiet moments. Bruce.
