My reels barely get seen and I cannot figure out why
I started posting short videos of my throws and glaze tests a few months ago, thinking people would find the process interesting the way I do. Some of them I actually put real effort into, trimming clips, adding music, showing a mug from wet clay to finished pour. And they just sit there with maybe 40 views.
Meanwhile I see other potters posting what looks like a ten second clip of pulling a handle and it gets thousands. I know comparison is a trap but I genuinely cannot tell what I am doing wrong. Is it timing? Hashtags? The first frame? My cat did photobomb one reel and that one did slightly better, which is honestly a little insulting.
Anyone figured out what actually moves the needle, or is this just a patience game? Would love to hear what has worked for you.
One thing I stumbled onto that killed my reach for a while, and I felt so dumb when I figured it out. I was editing short clips in another app and uploading them with the watermark still on. Turns out the algorithm buries anything that has a logo from a competing platform or editing tool stamped on it. Once I started making sure those watermarks were cropped or removed before posting, my views actually started climbing. It might not be the whole picture for you, but it's worth checking if any of your reels have a CapCut or other app logo sitting in the corner. The content could be solid and still get quietly suppressed over something that small.
