I thought I would try an announcement reel for the series? or do you think I should just jump right into the series? and did I do enough to let instagram know its going to be a series
Perfect, Tom!!! You completely understood the cliffhanger idea we discussed yesterday at Art Marketing 101!
For the series, would you be open to recording yourself talking to the camera, holding the mic, and adding your images between your clips?
Hey Tom! Good instinct to think about an announcement reel first.
For a series on Instagram, an intro reel works well when it does three things:
- Tells viewers what the series is about in one clear sentence ("I'm sharing my favorite American landscape photographs, one a week, starting Monday"). Specifics beat vague teases.
- Gives them a reason to come back. A number helps ("5 images from the Badlands" or "a new piece every Tuesday for 6 weeks"). That's what signals "series" to both the viewer and the algorithm.
- Ends with a direct ask: "Follow so you don't miss the first one" or "Turn on notifications." Short, one CTA, done.
To make sure Instagram knows it's a series: use the same hashtag across every post in the series, and reference the series name in each caption ("Part 2 of [Series Name]"). Instagram doesn't have a formal "series" feature, so consistency in naming and hashtags is how you train both the algorithm and your audience to connect the dots.
Keep the announcement reel under 30 seconds. Shorter reels get watched all the way through more often, and completion rate is what pushes reach.

I'm open to that, do you think something like sitting at my desk or out on the patio, stuff like that?
