When Painting Became More Than Technique

Post image 1

Wilderness

This is the image I’m sharing with today’s question: When did painting become more than technique for you?

At some point, for many artists, painting becomes more than making a picture well. It becomes a place of searching, listening, risk, and discovery.

I’d love to hear from others:
When did painting begin to feel like something deeper for you?

There comes a point in every piece I paint that this transition takes place, and this question must be answered in order for me to continue on. I've come to expect it now and when I get there I know to keep pushing until the discovery happens or the answer comes.

Good point @Anne Reid Artist ..I try to put as "Follow the muse". For you never know where she will take you. So be daring with your subject matter and definitely don't let the strive for perfection get in the way of your piece..be it art, poetry, or something else for that matter... I sometimes struggle with this as well as personally as I am certainly a bit of a perfectionist. But how do you describe something that is somewhat indescribable? I think for me, art and poetry interact with my being and soul, with some of my personal life experiences thrown in for good measure. Your style so to speak. But yes let's keep this question and conversation going..
