How Do You Talk About the Tools You Use as an Artist?

Well, since you brought the topic up Anne.. I have been thinking about this myself a bit lately.. when I am painting, and maybe this is weird, but I often talk to my canvases, paints and brushes, like giving them direction in a human tone.. Ok, where are we going with this one? Oh you are working well today..hm and you belong here and here.. that kind of thing.. so maybe weird to others, but I usually paint alone and not surrounded by others.. except my cat..who can be a real annoyance at times.. lol

Love the vibrant colors and feel of entering a supernatural place. Highlights the anticipation and emotion in the celebration. As far as the tools go I explain the effects that they give off and the feeling of what I'm trying to communicate in that specific piece. How the combination of mediums like aqua stick oil pastels on yupo (synthetic paper) give off a rich painterly look, without even using paint. If I'm using colored pencils, the texture and feel they give that you can't see in any other medium.
