I was standing inside this enormous hollow tree, looking up at the light beyond its weathered walls. It was one of those moments that made me pause and simply take in where I was. Photography keeps reminding me how many small wonders are waiting when I slow down.

The hollow itself is the frame here. You were inside the subject, not just pointing at it, and that changes what the light is doing, it's landing on you first, then the walls. That's the pause you caught.

I've had that exact feeling, standing in a space that shouldn't feel that big but somehow does. There's something about looking up through an opening like that, the way the light falls on old wood or stone, that makes you forget you were rushing anywhere. I sketched inside a bombed-out chapel in Berlin once and it gave me the same pause, like the place was holding its breath and I got to witness it for a second.
