Caught between the branches 🌙

3 years ago, waiting for the bus at 6:17am — looked up and there it was: the moon tangled in the tree branches, glowing through the clouds. All taken with my phone.

Sometimes the best camera is the one in your pocket and the best light is the one you weren't looking for.

When was the last time you stopped to look up? 💾 Save this one as a reminder

Yes I used to carry the dslr to work. Bi found that by the time you get it out of the bag. And get ready. The moment passed. I used to have an hour long lunch so I could take the camera and go walking. I find that now as I’m seeing a lot in the morning. I always have the camera on my phone ready. Like the one I posted about taking off the bridge. I saw the light. Made sure the camera was on and zoomed in a little bit.

That zoom habit is so real, and by the time you're adjusting it the light's already gone somewhere else. The phone camera forcing you to commit to what you actually saw instead of chasing the "perfect" framing is probably the best limitation you could have.

That 6:17 a.m. instinct is the whole thing. I used to fight myself about not having my good camera with me, like the shot didn't count if it wasn't on the right gear. Took me way too long to realize the moment you noticed is already more than most people stop for. The phone in your pocket at the exact second the light does something you can't predict is the right tool. I've got a whole folder of phone shots that matter more to me than half my rendered work because I was actually there, not planning to be there.
