Buzz buzz. I am out in Brandon Manitoba around a 2 and a half hour drive from home. Stopped off at the riverbank discovery centre they have a marsh. No birds so I chased something else. Do you go chasing bees? Let me know. Probably would have done better with the cannon.

I especially love the close-up of ghe one bee gathering all the necate he can find. I love the vibrancy of yellow on the bee and flowers with the black and green adding to contrast.

Brandon's a good distance for what might have been nothing. The fact that you pivoted to bees instead of calling it and heading back says more about how you work than whether the Canon would've nailed the shot. I've done that turn plenty of times, usually with light I didn't plan for, and the frame you get from adjusting on-site beats the one you thought you came for most days.

I've chased bees exactly once and came home with two blurry wings and a newfound respect for macro shooters. They do not hold still, they do not care about your focus, and they will absolutely fly away the second you get close to something you like. The fact that you got anything usable two and a half hours from home with gear you're second-guessing means you showed up and worked the subject you had instead of waiting for the perfect one. That counts. I tend to freeze when I'm shooting something totally outside my comfort zone, so the willingness to pivot when the birds weren't there is honestly the part I'm taking notes on.
