The Seasons 🎨🌳
Sharing one of my older watercolor paintings, The Seasons.
This piece represents the four seasons meeting in one place, each with its own colors, atmosphere and little details. I wanted each section to feel different while still belonging to the same cycle of change.
I created this during a time when I experimented much more with color. These days I mostly find myself drawn to greyscale, but watercolor still has a special place in my art. Sometimes it’s fun to leave the graphite and charcoal behind and just play with color. ❤💚💙🩷

Graphite is home for me, but I keep a little watercolor kit around for when my brain needs to work differently. Usually happens after weeks of grinding through construction exercises. There's something about not being able to control water the same way you control a pencil that forces a different kind of decision making. Your color transitions between the seasons are really clean, especially where spring meets summer. Do you wet-on-wet for those blends or layer washes?
Thank you! 🖤 This one is actually acrylic rather than watercolor, although I can definitely see why it gives that impression! I built the colors and transitions with acrylic, blending and layering them until the different seasons flowed into each other without losing their own character. I'm especially happy you noticed the transition between spring and summer. I wanted all four sections to feel different, but still belong to the same painting. 🎨
