Yes, I have done something similar--put artwork up on my studio wall for a few weeks or even months to see how I feel about over time. Sometimes I feel satisfied, other times I pinpoint the issue and address it to completion. But I've also overworked some earlier pieces this way--basically beat all life or excitement out them.

I've found it can be helpful to start a new piece, perhaps very similar, and be very deliberate with my choices to see if it informs my understanding of the initial artwork. Long way to say, yes, change can be good, but don't try to put everything into that one painting.

I do this constantly! Sometimes I'll see a piece on my phone days later and think, wait, that corner needs more depth, or that shadow isn't quite right. Then I'm back at the easel even though the post went live a week ago. It's part of the process, honestly.
