Simon d'Entremont manages to put words around that quiet feeling of why we keep picking up the camera, even on the days nothing cooperates. It's the kind of reminder I needed after a week of kneeling in wet grass for one bluebell that never quite caught the light I wanted.

I really relate to this. I am not a professional photographer, but photography has become another way for me to observe and understand the places around me. Sometimes I go out knowing exactly what I am looking for, and nature simply has other plans.
But I think that is part of what keeps us curious. The photograph we imagined may not happen, but while waiting for it we often notice something else we would otherwise have missed. Perhaps that is part of the reason we keep picking up the camera.
