🎪 Show & Sell — Where to Display & Sell Your Art Around Montreal (June)

Hey Montreal creatives! June is absolutely stacked with foot traffic, neighbourhood energy, and open-air crowds just waiting to fall in love with your work. Whether you have a full booth setup or just a folding table and a dream, there is a real spot for you right now. Here is what is live, verified, and still within reach before the month wraps up.

🟢 Easiest to Start (beginner-friendly, low or no cost)

  • Montréal Makers Market (MMM) (beginner-friendly, sliding-scale or free tables). MMM is a beloved queer-inclusive artisan market with 75 to 90 vendors per weekend, and their whole model is built around accessibility. They give away free tables and offer sliding-scale fees so cost is never a barrier. June dates have just wrapped, but their Linktree application page is live right now for July 25–26 and beyond, and those spots fill fast. Apply this week.

  • Fête Nationale Neighbourhood Celebrations (beginner-friendly, free or very low cost). June 23–24, across the entire island. There are 77 neighbourhood street parties organized by community volunteers, each one bringing local crowds into parks and public spaces for music, BBQs, and cultural celebration. Reach out to your local arrondissement or community association now: these hyper-local events are exactly the kind of warm, captive audience where a table of prints or originals can do real business, and the entry bar is as low as it gets.

  • Jean-Talon Market (Marchés Publics de Montréal) (beginner to intermediate, contact for fees). The Marchés Publics network is actively looking for craftspeople and artisans to diversify their vendor mix. A June 27 urban agriculture event is drawing extra foot traffic to Jean-Talon. Hit their vendor inquiry page this week, introduce yourself, and ask about a short-term summer spot. The market runs in French and English, the crowds are loyal, and the vibe is very community-first.

🟡 Step-Up Markets (curated, bigger crowds)

  • Montreal Art and Craft 2026 (June Edition) (all levels welcome, vendor fee TBC on application). This recurring series runs signature 3-day events in June, October, and December, with free public admission bringing in a broad shopper crowd. The June edition is a full-weekend format, admission is free for guests, and the organizers encourage early applications because space is limited. Check Eventbrite for the June dates and reach out to the organizer directly for vendor pricing.

  • Marché des Éclusiers, Old Port (intermediate, contact for fees). Nestled in the heart of the Old Port along the Lachine Canal, this seasonal artisanal market runs all summer and focuses specifically on showcasing local artisanal products. The canal-side setting pulls in tourists and Montrealers alike, and the market's curatorial focus on local makers means your work fits right in. Worth a direct inquiry now for remaining summer spots.

  • Puces POP (Vendor Applications Open) (curated, intermediate to established, contact for fees). Puces POP is one of Montreal's most celebrated independent maker fairs, running four times a year and drawing 10,000 visitors per edition. Their spring market is just past, but vendor applications for the fall and POP Montreal festival editions are worth submitting now while you have momentum. Over 100 vendors per market, strong community reputation, and a shopper base that genuinely wants to buy local art.

📢 Open Calls and Databases

  • EntryThingy (Quebec filter) (all levels, fees vary by call, many free). EntryThingy is the largest free database of open calls for artists on the internet, aggregating listings from CaFÉ, Zapplication, ArtCall, ShowSubmit, and independent galleries. You can browse every active call without creating an account. Flip the region filter to Quebec or Canada for locally relevant exhibition and market calls with June and July deadlines. Several calls with no entry fee are currently listed.

  • ELAN Quebec Calls for Submissions (all levels, fees vary). ELAN (English-Language Arts Network Quebec) maintains a running list of calls for submissions specifically relevant to Quebec-based artists. Their current page includes active residency and exhibition opportunities with upcoming deadlines. A great bookmark for any Montreal artist who wants a single place to check for Quebec-specific opportunities every week.

💡 Beyond the Booth: Real Ways Montreal Artists Sell Right Now

  • Café and restaurant consignment walls. Plateau-Mont-Royal, Mile End, and Rosemont are full of independent cafés that rotate local art on their walls every four to six weeks. Walk in, introduce yourself, bring three to five framed pieces, and ask about their wall program. Most charge zero commission or a small 20 to 30 percent split. The foot traffic is daily, the ask is low, and you leave a signup sheet or a QR code to your shop on every piece. This is how a lot of Montreal artists build their first collector base.

  • Fête Nationale pop-up beside the main stage. With 77 neighbourhood celebrations happening June 23–24 across the island, consider setting up a quick display table right where the crowds gather for music. Many of these are informal enough that a well-placed folding table with original work and prints at accessible price points ($20 to $80) can move a surprising amount of inventory in a single afternoon. Bring a Square reader, a mailing list clipboard, and enough business cards to hand to everyone who lingers.

  • Jazz Fest foot-traffic zone, Quartier des Spectacles. The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal runs June 25 to July 4 with over 350 concerts and two-thirds of them free outdoors. The Quartier des Spectacles and surrounding streets are packed every evening until midnight. While formal booth permits inside the festival perimeter require coordination with the organizers well in advance, the surrounding streets and café terraces are fair game for pop-up displays, live painting, and selling prints to the half-million people flowing through. Talk to the café or restaurant owners along Sainte-Catherine and de Maisonneuve right now about a window display or outdoor table partnership during the festival run.

  • Build your list at every single event. Every booth, every neighbourhood party, every café wall should have one thing in common: a way for people to give you their email. A paper clipboard with two fields (name and email) converts better than a QR code for most crowds. Fifty names collected across a summer of small markets is worth more in the long run than any single big sale. Montreal has a real art-buying community, and repeat buyers come from relationships, not algorithms.

🚗 Worth the Drive (these skew more established)

  • Marché Public du Vieux-Saint-Jean, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (intermediate, contact for vendor fees). About 40 kilometres southeast of Montreal in Montérégie, this family-friendly public market runs Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the summer season. The market is family-oriented, locally loved, and has a dedicated children's chalk mural area that draws community crowds. Reach out via their Facebook page to ask about artisan vendor spots for the remaining June Saturdays. A manageable day trip with a real local audience.

  • Jean-sur-Richelieu Art and Craft 2026 (intermediate to established, booth fee TBC). Listed on Eventbrite's Montreal art fair feed, this Montérégie-area art and craft show is a solid regional option for artists ready to step outside the island and reach a different collector base. Check the Eventbrite listing for June dates and vendor application details. The drive is under an hour from most Montreal neighbourhoods.

If you want help figuring out which of these fits where you are right now, or if you need a booth application blurb written, just say the word and I am on it.
