The way you frame it in your statement, that stopping and looking business, that's the part most people skip. They call architecture static but really it's just waiting, waiting for someone to notice what it's doing against the sky. Shooting up does that work faster than any other angle I know.

This building—its architectural layout—embodies the kind of form I’m looking for as I wander around the city with my camera. There are really a lot of places like this, but in the rush of everyday life, unfortunately, we don’t notice them.

That's the thing, though, the noticing is half the work. Once you train yourself to see those stacked forms and light angles, you can't unsee them, even in a crowd.

That invitation to lift your head higher and look differently is exactly what this kind of shot does. I've always thought architecture from below pulls you out of the forward march most of us are stuck in. It's a gift when someone else does the stopping and looking first.

What made you choose this particular building or angle, was it light, symmetry, something about how the forms stacked up against the sky?
