Old tablets and new GPUs on the same rig, anyone?

I still have my first Huion tablet sitting on a shelf. Every few months I think about plugging it back in as a secondary device, maybe for quick sketching while my main Cintiq handles the Photoshop heavy lifting. But I keep hearing that mixing old and new hardware on one system is asking for driver conflicts.

The thing that makes me hesitate is I've already dealt with a weird pressure sensitivity bug that only showed up after a GPU driver update. Took me an entire evening to figure out it was a conflict between the tablet driver and something the new graphics card installed. That was with current hardware. I can only imagine throwing a five year old tablet into the mix.

So for anyone running multiple creative peripherals, old and new, on the same machine: is it actually stable long term or are you just waiting for the next OS update to break everything? Curious whether the hassle is worth it or if I should just let the old gear go.
