Vintage Reflection

The reflections on these WWII era cars caught and held my attention for quite a while as I sought a timeless image of an age gone by.

The chrome's doing all the work here. That warped reflection of what I'm guessing is other cars or sky pulls the whole frame into something less about the vehicle itself and more about what's bouncing off it. I've had similar moments with old storefronts in Melbourne, waiting for the right angle where the glass stops being a barrier and becomes the subject.

The chrome on those old cars holds light in a way nothing modern does. I spent twenty minutes once just trying to capture the curves on a '40s Ford grille at a farm show, kept losing the detail in the highlights. You caught that balance here, the reflection stays sharp but doesn't blow out. That's the wait paying off.
