Art Residencies

A place to discuss artists' residencies, to ask/answer questions, to discuss what's available, what artist residencies you have done or are considering applying to, how to evaluate/choose. Tell us about your experiences. Post photos of your residency, post images of work created during a residency. If you run a residency, and want to let the Art Helper community know about it, post it here. The banner image is a panoramic view from just outside "Radiant Light Live in Art Studio," in Santa Fe, NM where I did my first self-directed 4 week residency mid-may to mid-June, 2023. https://www.radiantlightliveinartstudio.com/

Art Holiday in the Whispering Himalayan Peaks

Post image 1

Hello everyone! Please share your thoughts about the leaflet...will it appeal to the artists ? Should I also mention non-artists are welcome too....and is it a good idea to have children ......

It will be held early November 2026 when the weather in India is friendly and it will be absolutely wonderful in the hills (Himalayan range).

I am planning to have a Instagram page with more info ...and booking details...does that sound good...

The retreat has breathtaking views of the KANCHANJUNGA RANGE ...

Feedbacks please...

The Bored Peach Club

Anybody have any experience with The Bored Peach Club? It's a residency on the island of Gozo in Malta. I applied and was selected to attend so I will be attending this summer and was wondering if anybody might have heard about it. I'm looking forward to the adventure and it sounds like a lovely place but inside info is always best.

Thanks!

Chateau de la Napoule near Canne

An artist friend is doing three painting retreats at Chateau de la Napoule near Cannes, FR this year and I'm really interested. I wonder if anyone else has gone there for an artist's residency. The residency comes with room and board (breakfast and dinner 5 days, on your own for lunch but you have access to the kitchen.) There is no fee if selected. Sounds wonderful.

@Threshold_art_retreats is hosting my friends retreats. You can see more on Instagram but, in the meantime, I'm looking for anyone who has experience with the location or organizer.

La Maison de Beaumont in Provence

Has anyone had any experience with La Maison de Beaumont. I was asked to apply for a residency. Seems very flexible.. stay a week or a month or up to 12 weeks. You rent an apartment and have access to a studio. Studio apartments will be offered to resident artists for a minimal residency fee of 850 euros for each 2 week period (corresponding to 1700 euros for 4 weeks). The program is in the Luberon. Residencies at Jen Tough Gallery/AIR Studios in Santa Fe

Post image 1

I have done 2 self-directed, 4 week residencies here. I am scheduled to do another this fall. Some of these residencies are partially funded or fully funded by the facility. This year, one week of my 4 week residency will be fully funded. Jen Tough Gallery/AIR studios offers both a studio space and a studio apartment, in the same building, for the residency. There has also been a plan to offer residencies in a home nearby, with the studio in the home--I haven't heard if that plan has come to fruition yet. Santa Fe is a fabulous place for a residency as the landscape is incredible, and there is an amazingly active art scene. The food, live music and art-experiencing opportunities are unrivaled.

International Residency in France

I spent the month of November, 2024 at an international artists' residency in France. There were about 25 artists present, including about 14 painters, 10 writers and one singer/songwriter. It was a fabulous experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It was expensive, but several of us were able to obtain grants to help with the expense (one or two people had grants that fully funded the residency). URL: https://www.chateauorquevaux.com/
